ABOUT ME
As an artist most of my life, I paint the world as I see it. Whether it be acrylics, oils or mixed media, I get really excited by taking an inanimate or animate object and giving it a home. My work is reminiscent of a less modernized world and can appear quite illustrative. I enjoy much of my time outside in nature, whether it be riding my horse, running or hiking. Focusing on light, color and realism, my inspiration comes from past artists like Rembrandt or Caravaggio who focused highly on chiaroscuro in their imagery.
Sometimes I just have to paint a pet, an animal, a vehicle or a flower just for the sheer joy of attempting to capture a personality. And then at times a landscape just takes my breath away. Other times I just chill with my trusty steed Hot Rod. He has my heart and has been a big inspiration as I trail ride him in some very beautiful areas in Oregon.
For 15 years I had my own business as a Graphic Designer/Prepress Technician. I also illustrated my way through University in BC Canada. I won a national mural competition in which my image “Gateway to the World” was publicly put on the exterior of a building in Vancouver Canada and
I received international media coverage. And then came a big move to the USA. It gave me time to regroup and take a closer look at what I wanted to do with my life south of the border. I have been painting up a storm and am thoroughly enjoying every moment. I don’t believe I will ever run out of interesting experiences to draw my inspiration from. I look at the world as a melting pot of simple moments and things that leave lasting impressions. My bold color illustrates my adventures, memories and moments in life. I hope you will find value in my work and be inspired as you share in this journey with me.
